If your vehicle is experiencing an error code that begins with “P”, then it indicates that you have a problem with the Powertrain, which could mean a transmission problem. This article with discuss how to know what your error code means.
Error codes can be summed up in types of codes: Global error code and manufacturing error code. Global error codes are common to all vehicles and will have the number “0” as the second character in the error code. Manufacturing error codes are specific to the manufacturer and will have the number “1” as the second character in the code. We will be just be discussing global error codes today.
An overheating transmission is usually the issue. The cause could be low transmission fluid, issue with cooling fan, faulty fluid sensor, restricted lines, transmission issue, etc.
Programming error, faulty electrical connection with the TCM, etc. Incompatibility with TCM and ECM.
TCM and ECM unable to communicate or not properly configured with parts.
Dirty transmission fluid, defective/corroded manual shift valve, or faulty transmission range sensor
Usually caused by a problem with shift solenoid, engine coolant sensor, valve body, or input/output speed sensor.
Inadequate signal from the output speed sensor, irregular difference between RPM input/output sensor. Possibly defective output sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor, or dirty transmission fluid.
Possibly caused by low transmission fluid, damaged solenoid, or malfunctioning torque converter.
This code can cause problems with shifting. Possibly a solenoid failure or solenoid issue.
